Uber Nigeria – Uber Car Driving Requirements

$
0
0
Uber Nigeria – Uber was founded in 2009 as UberCab by Garrett Camp, the co-founder of StumbleUpon, and Travis Kalanick, who had sold his Red Swoosh startup for $19 million in 2007.

Uber Nigeria – Uber Car Driving Requirements

Uber Nigeria is an American technology company headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States, operating in 570 cities worldwide. It develops, markets and operates the Uber car transportation and food delivery mobile apps. Uber drivers use their own cars, although drivers can rent a car to drive with Uber.

Uber Nigeria
Uber works via an app which you download onto your smartphone and then input your credit card details.

However, you can book an Uber taxi at any time of the day or night via the app, which provides details as to how long it will take for the Uber to reach you. You can even watch the taxi coming towards you on a screen. And possibly one of the best parts about Uber is that you don’t need to have any cash on you to pay for the trip as it’s automatically deducted from your credit card via the app.

Uber Nigeria Now, anyone can own an Uber taxi and anyone can become an Uber taxi driver. It has effectively democratized taxi ownership, you could say. So the question is, should you invest in owning an Uber taxi or maybe even more than one?

We will highlight some PROs and CONs of the business to all who may have interest in Uber Nigeria car driving. Uber has been in the news lately particularly in the area of drivers, kidnapping, robbery etc. we are not looking into that areas, for now, we are concerned about the variability of the business and its profitability. UBER business is very profitable for drivers in Lagos and Abuja been the urban city. Lagos with a population of about 18million people and with the kind of transportation in the city, you are in for a good cash.

Uber Nigeria Requirements of Drivers

  1. Drivers Licence: this can be obtained from the FRSC.
  2. Lagos state drivers institute ID card: this can be obtained from the Lagos State Drivers Institute.
  3. Background check: this is carried out after the driver has been accepted and has completed the training. It costs ₦20,000 but can be paid in 5 instalments of ₦4,000 each. It is a check Uber carries out with the police, which demonstrates that you have no criminal convictions or charges against your name, and is for the safety of passengers.
  4. Contract agreement between the driver and the owner, this is if you are not the owner of the car you are driving.
In order to become an UberX driver, Uber Nigeria you must:

1. Have a newer, 4-door vehicle that passes any required state inspection,
2. You must be able to provide proof of insurance,
3. You must have a clean driving record, and
4. You must pass a criminal background check.

Once approved, you download the Uber Partner app to your Android or iPhone, turn it on, and start accepting riders.

Pros of uber driving Uber Nigeria
Ultimate flexibility
An Uber driver can work as much or as little as they want. The phone/application can be turned on at any time to work and turned off just as easily. Thus the driver creates their own schedule on the fly.

No boss overseeing
Although there is a manager for the drivers and sometimes they do give suggestions or pass on critique, for the most part, there is no boss saying what to do and when. A driver is on their own prerogative to go where they please when they please. A driver’s boss at times can be more the passengers. A driver has to maintain a 4.5 or above rating to not be cut from driving. While riders can get bossy at times, the good thing is it’s not long before they are dropped off. The driver rates the passengers as well.

Meeting new people
There are people using Uber around town for all kinds of reasons. You might find there is a general demographic;  you will encounter all types of people of all ages using Uber to get around. Every person that gets in the driver’s car creates an opportunity for social interaction.

Seeing new things in Uber Nigeria
As people go to different places for different reasons you will get to see neighborhoods you didn’t know about, hear of new events you didn’t know were going on, and become more aware of the city that you drive in.

Listening to music or news while you work
Not all jobs allow a worker to listen to the stereo while they work. Although a driver should be conscious of what sounds might disturb a rider, generally listening to the stereo is admissible.

Free Time
Nothing makes a family man more happy than having time for his wife and kids. With Uber Nigeria , you can decide to work at any time you wish to work, you can visit your kids at school, your wife at her shop and even attend to family issues that may require your attention.

Disadvantages of Uber Driving (Uber Nigeria )
Work/fares can be slow when you want them to be busy
There can be times when a driver wants to be taking fares and making money but the requests are low or there are too many drivers compared to passengers. It can be frustrating to want to work and be on-call but not be getting any.

An ineffective rating system
Customers rate a driver 1 to 5 stars, and unfortunately for drivers, a 4 star average is failing and being terminated.

No interaction with fellow employees
While it can be great to be working solo, at times a driver might want to communicate with other drivers. Uber doesn't provide a way for Drivers to interact.

Little recognition from the management/boss
The higher ups at Uber don’t do much to recognize good performance of their drivers. You either are doing fine, or you are getting cut. In addition, an individual driver’s opinion or request can be very minute to the management.

Wear and tear on car
Uber Nigeria Drivers are responsible for all car expenses. This can add up to significant added depreciation and maintenance/repairs on a vehicle.

Seeing different characteristics of people
Drunk people can also be totally obnoxious and unreasonable. A lot of people take transportation to avoid drinking and driving. Although we sincerely believe that is the right thing to do, being ridiculously belligerent is not. Take for example club goers at Quilox, and those night crawlers.

His idea was considered the best and he was given the start-up capital of ₦200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira).

In addition to the display of diplomatic and oratory skills by the delegates during the conference, the Idea Fair seeks to engage the entrepreneurial, Problem-solving and creative minds of the delegates by requiring them to proffer solutions to issues of both national and international concern through pragmatic, sustainable and entrepreneurial projects from over 1200 youth delegates , with overwhelming potential to contribute to social change, development and sustainability in their respective localities.

It is based on how to  promote sustainable living among individuals in poor and disorientated communities by providing indirect mass employment, sustainable power supply, recycled irrigation water for farmers and bio fertilizers which are all twice cheaper than all their product competitors in the market, using Organic Waste Recycling.

After extensive screening at the preliminary stage by the judges, Project ENERGEM was shortlisted amongst the Top 10 final projects. David was  the only private university student shortlisted in the final round against 9 other University of Lagos [UNILAG] students.

Continuing its tradition of attracting the brightest students from throughout Nigeria and Africa, the American University of Nigeria will offer 75 merit scholarships to already accepted candidates in the 2017 fall semester.

American University of Nigeria

The highly competitive computer-based examination for the scholarships will take place in 25 centers across the Federation on August 5.

Assistant VP of Recruitment & Marketing, Julius AyukTabe, said the examination centers have been carefully selected to cover all the nation’s six geopolitical zones. Two scholarship winners will emerge from each of the nation’s 36 states and the Federal Capital territory, and one nationwide.

Last spring’s nationwide winner was 18-year-old Ms. Maryam Habila Usman, a former student of Air Force Girls Secondary School, Jos.  Ms. Usman is from Borno State. She is in the Natural and Environmental Sciences program.

Since its founding in 2003 by former Nigerian Vice President, HE Atiku Abubakar, AUN has been bringing together the best and brightest candidates from all over Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana, Uganda, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Niger, Chad, Sierra Leone, and other African countries, to study under one roof.  The University seeks to make its American-style liberal education possible for all qualified applicants, regardless of family income.

Each year, AUN sets aside a large fund for scholarships and other forms of financial aid to undergraduate students.  Over the years, it has awarded about 1,000 different scholarships, including close to 300 covering full tuition, board, books, and meals. In the 2016/2017 session alone, AUN dedicated more than ₦102 million to its scholarship program, for both new and returning students.

Scholarship students are often among the finest of AUN’s graduates.

The University’s Class of 2017 Valedictorian, Ms. Onyinye Immaculata Onuigbo, whose 3.98 CGA (out of 4 points) was the highest in the university’s history, was a scholarship student.  Identified by the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation, Ms. Onuigbo, who hails from Enugu State, is the daughter of an electrician father and nurse mother.  She completed her studies at AUN in its prestigious Petroleum Chemistry program.

The 2016 Valedictorian, Mr. Gregory Tanyi, also a scholarship student, is the son of an Engineering Professor and came to AUN from Cameroon. Tanyi studied Telecoms and Wireless Technology

In his own remark while declaring the public hearing opened, the Senate president, ably represented by the Deputy chief whip of the house, Senator Francis Alanumeta, a distinguished senator from Edo state, said that the bill, which came along side other bills in the same line, seeking establishments of Federal universities of Kano, Owerri and Zaria,  named SB 397, 398 &400 alongside the bill seeking the upgrading of FederalCollege of Agriculture Kabba to a University of Agriculture, is a bill that the Senate supports as the affected Colleges of Education already have existing facilities both human and materials for a successful take off such that the federal government will have less to spend in this time of economic recession.

Meanwhile, in his address of welcome, the chairman Senate committee on tertiary education, Senator Jubril Barau, assured the audience that all opinions on the matter for discussion will be heard, irrespective of the perspective. He further stated that the minority will always have their say while the majority will in turn have their way.

After the public hearing, it was indeed jubilation galore for the representatives of the four age long colleges of education whose respective bills on the upgrade to federal universities of education did not receive canter memorandum. It is therefore hoped that very soon, the Senate committee report will be ratified by the house and consequently sent to the president for executive approval and sign-in to law. It would be recalled that earlier in 2016, the respective bills have equally sailed through the processes in the green chamber.

Earlier, the presence of Senator Dino Melaye to the conference hall witnessed a loud ovation being one of the sponsors of the bills under consideration and also acknowledged as one the highly profiled senator of the federal republic of Nigeria with the highest number of sponsored bills. While addressing the August gathering, Melaye in his usual dynamic manner, pulled his weight behind the bill and dramatically affirmed that he would even go spiritual, beyond being political in seeing the successful signing of the proposed bill into law.

Leading the delegation of the College to the red chamber is the College Provost, Prof Olukoya Ogen, accompanied by the eminent Council chairman, Prof Nathaniel Ohazurike and Dr. Folorunso Balogun who equally lend their voices in support of the bill through their memorandum. Also present are the representatives of the paramount ruler of Ondo kingdom, the Lisa and Sasere of the kingdom, who both, through their paper presentation affirmed that the reversal of the Adeyemi University which was put on hold will certainly restore the joy of Ondo kingdom.

Also present at the public hearing include the Chairman of COEASU, Dr. Tope Oziegbe, COEASU secretary, comrade Olaolu Olaniyan, comrade Smart Olugbeko,  Members of the COEASU university status committee Dr. Felix Alao, Dr. Michael Ogunboyede, Mr. Joel Edafe, the MIS Assistant Director, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, representative of SUCCOEN, comrade Jimoh Liasu, Mr. Richard Adegbesan and as well as the NASU & NACEATON, representatives,  comrade Henry Akingbola, comrade Oluwatosin Babatunde and Comrade 'Dele Akinnate

The event which was held at the University auditorium and chaired by a former Minister of Health, Dr. Tim Menakaya was graced by the executive governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, a former Secretary to the State Government and 2017 Governorship aspirant in the state, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, the chairmen Anambra and Enugu Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Alfred Achebe and Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo respectively, among numerous others.

Welcoming the guests, the vice chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku stated that it is thrilling that Emeritus Prof. Pita Ejiofor is being honoured in his lifetime and during active service as Emeritus Professor by the institution of the lecture series which he noted hopefully, would run through the course of time. He described it as a well deserved and befitting honour to an erudite scholar, astute administrator and a social crusader.

Prof. Ahaneku posited that Prof. Ejiofor has contributed immensely to the evolution of the Management Sciences discipline in the Nigerian University system.

The guest lecturer and President, Academy of Management, Prof. Barnabas Agbonifoh who spoke on "Management Yesterday, Today and the Nigerian Management Question", noted that Nigeria has been bedevilled with poor managerial practices ranging from her leaders to captains of industries and heads in ministries and Parastatals. He faulted the President Buhari led government in its appointment of some ministers who lack requisite qualifications to man some key ministries. Prof. Agbonifoh advised managers to be dedicated to their duties as well as being able to take responsibility for the good or bad outcome of their decisions

In his remarks, Dr. Nkem Okeke described Prof. Ejiofor as an enigma who is gifted and determined to make sure the Igbo language survives. Dr. Okeke commended Prof. Ejiofor for his doggedness in ensuring the language survives even at this critical time when the Igbos are having identity crisis. According to him, Igbos must begin to identify who they are, adding that the survival of the Igbo race rests on every Igbo man and woman.

Earlier in his address, Dr. Menakaya eulogized Prof. Ejiofor, describing him as a thorough bred Igbo man, a born teacher that has turned out to become an eagle and great role model.

The Dean of the faculty, Prof. Anayo Nkannebe posited that the event was in honour of a man who has contributed immensely to the enviable height the faculty has attained over the years.

Chief Umeh described Prof. Ejiofor as a man of many parts who is astute in his fight for truth but quite unassuming despite his accomplishments.

High point of the occasion was the unveiling and launching of a festschrift in honour of Prof. Ejiofor.

Prof. Ejiofor in his response, was full of appreciation to the faculty and the university at large for the honour bestowed on him.

Visibly elated, he expressed his gratitude to God for leading him this far and according him the grace to touch lives positively.

He posited that he is highly humbled at the outpour of love and honour adding that if he has opportunities, he would still do more.

A Professor of Environment and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Ilorin, Folahan Amao Adekola, has underscored the need to preserve the environment and shun environmental pollution in order to avoid ozone layer depletion, global warming and climate change because the environment is key to a sustainable future.

University of Ilorin

Prof. Adekola stated this penultimate Wednesday (July 12, 2017), while delivering the maiden lecture of the Association of Students of Peace and Strategic Studies (ASPASS), Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS), University of Ilorin.

The Lecture, organised to celebrate the World Environment Day, was themed “Connecting People to Nature; Protecting the World We Share”.

The celebration was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of preserving biodiversity, identifying environmental related problems, proffering solutions to these environmental issues, as well as encouraging people to keep their surroundings safe in order to enjoy a more prosperous future.

In his lecture, entitled “The Earth, Our Common Heritage”, the Guest Lecturer noted that pollution, climate change and over-exploitation are threats to nature, stressing that because environmental components are interconnected with each other in order to maintain a balanced ecosystem, any form of pollution in the environment causes the ozone layer meant to protect the earth from solar radiation depletion.

Prof. Adekola added that the ozone layer depletion poses a threat to human and animal health, terrestrial plants, aquatic ecosystems, and air quality,

In his address, the Director of the CPSS, Dr M. A. Adedimeji, stated that environmental security has been an issue of global concern, adding that “the environment is so important as a component of security that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) identified environmental security as one of the seven forms of human security because when the environment is not secure, we are also not secure.”

Dr Adedimeji noted that because of the changes and dynamics of the constantly evolving environment, a way forward, especially for those in the Niger Delta, should be established so as to enable people maximise the use of the environment  in such a way that oil spillage will not disturb the ecosystem that people's survival and livelihood are dependent on.

Emphasizing the importance of the environment, the CPSS Director said, “Without the environment, there is nothing we can hang on to”.

On his part, the President of ASPASS, Mr. AbdulFathi Arabi, disclosed that one of the mandates of the Association is to create awareness on the importance of peace and development in the environment in order to reduce the danger done to the environment because “the environment is the most precious asset given to mankind”.

The Director of the School of Preliminary Studies, University of Ilorin, Prof. M. M. Akanbi, urged the participants to be mindful of their activities in the environment by looking out for one another in order to have a sustainable environment.

Also in her remarks, the pioneer President of ASPASS, Sister Josephine Olagunju, stated that the Association has been able to achieve its aim of making students see what the Centre stands for. She submitted that a rally to the Government House should be organised in order to attract the government's attention to the environmental pollution on the roads.

“Edo Owned University not for the poor” - Management refutes media reports

The management of Edo University, Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, has dissociated itself from online and mainstream media reports with the headlines “Edo Owned University not for the poor,” and “VC says Edo University not for poor Nigerians”.

A statement signed by the school’s Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Isoken Ogboro, indicated that at no point in time did the Acting Vice Chancellor, either expressly or impliedly made a statement that could be conjured in the manner of the headlines in the misleading reports.

Edo University, Iyamho

“We do not therefore agree with those headlines and consequently view those captions as sensational and calculated attempt to tarnish the good image of the university.

“It is our submission that these headlines are misinformed, misguided as regards its mission of providing quality education to all classes of Nigerians “, according to the statement.

The statement described the University as one envisioned to provide quality education geared towards the socio-economic, political and technological advancements of the Nigerian state and indeed the world, irrespective of social class.

The university averred that the misleading reports may have been initiated by people motivated by partisan hegemonistic interest who found it appropriate to use the media as instruments to push them through.

Disproving the claims further, the university asserted that it has an “inbuilt scheme for the poor known as “Undergraduate Indigent Students’ Scholarship Awards (ISSA) and the Undergraduate Full Scholarship Awards (UFSA) purely designed to reward excellence and provide access to quality education to indigent students.”

It therefore condemned in strong terms any allegation or misinformation, either published on the pages of newspapers or orally spread by any person or group of persons to tarnish the good image of the Acting Vice Chancellor and the University.

It urged the reading public, both online and of-line to disregard the misleading reports, just as it assured the general public that the acting VC would continue in his good works and not allow those it called “disgruntled elements” to distract him from his avowed desire to run and position Edo University, Iyamho as one of the Ivy League universities in Nigeria and globally.
